About the Speaker:

Dr. Mark Rosenberg, University Professor and Senior Fellow Jack Gordon Institute at FIU

Dr. Mark B. Rosenberg is an American academic and administrator who served as the president of Florida International University (FIU) from 2009 to 2022 and a former Chancellor of the State Univesity System of Florida. He is currently a University Professor and Senior Fellow Jack Gordon Institute at FIU. 

He is a renowned expert in international relations and public policy. Dr. Rosenberg received his Ph.D. in political science with a graduate certificate in Latin American and Caribbean Studies from the University of Pittsburg in 1976. He joined the faculty of FIU in 1976, where he served as professor of political science and founding director of the Latin American and Caribbean Center.

In 2009, Dr. Rosenberg was appointed president of FIU. During his tenure, he oversaw significant growth and transformation of the university. He increased the number of undergraduate and graduate students, expanded the university's research portfolio, and enhanced its international reach.

Dr. Rosenberg is a prolific author and scholar. He has published extensively in prestigious journals and books on topics such as international relations, comparative politics, and public administration. He is also a regular commentator on international affairs.

In addition to his academic achievements, Dr. Rosenberg is deeply committed to public service. He has served as a consultant to the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development. He has also testified before the United States Congress on numerous occasions. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a renowned think tank dedicated to promoting informed global citizenship.

Dr. Rosenberg has received numerous awards and honors for his work, including the Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Fellowship and the National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship.
